A serious maritime incident occurred at the Port of Tyne in northeastern England on July 19, involving an offshore wind installation vessel and a feeder container ship. According to initial reports, Vestas-operated offshore wind vessel Wind Orca collided with the berthed container vessel BG Orange during its departure preparation.

The collision occurred at approximately 13:00 local time while Wind Orca was leaving the port to conduct offshore wind operations. The impact caused significant damage to the bow and upper structures of BG Orange, while the wind installation vessel also sustained damage. No casualties have been reported following the incident.

Following the collision, both vessels were temporarily suspended from normal operations. The damaged container vessel BG Orange, operated by BG Freight Line, remains under assessment, while relevant authorities have begun technical inspections and safety evaluations to determine the extent of the damage.

The UK maritime authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and implemented temporary restrictions in the affected area. The incident highlights the importance of strict navigation management and safety coordination during complex port operations involving different types of commercial vessels.
