Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Enters Global 40-Million-TEU League
Ningbo, China — May 25, 2026 — Ningbo-Zhoushan Port recorded an annual container throughput of 43.87 million TEUs, officially becoming the world’s third port to surpass the 40-million-TEU milestone.
The port also maintained its position as the world’s busiest cargo port, with annual cargo throughput exceeding 1.4 billion tons for the 17th consecutive year. Currently, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port operates 309 container routes, connecting more than 700 ports across 200+ countries and regions worldwide.
Shipping efficiency continues to improve, with Yangtze River Delta–Europe express routes taking as little as 26 days. Intelligent systems at Meishan Port have also reduced truck clearance time to approximately two minutes.
Meanwhile, the 2026 Ningbo Export Cross-Border E-Commerce Expo will take place from May 27–29, bringing together over 3,000 factories and multiple global e-commerce platforms to further strengthen regional trade and supply chain connectivity.
