MSC Opens Xuzhou Branch to Strengthen Inland-Sea Intermodal Logistics Network
Global shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has officially launched its Xuzhou branch, marking the company’s 33rd branch office in Greater China and further expanding its inland logistics footprint across the Chinese market.
According to industry sources, the new branch will leverage Xuzhou’s rapidly developing railway infrastructure to establish stable and efficient sea-rail intermodal transport solutions. The network is designed to connect inland cargo directly with Qingdao Port before linking to MSC’s global shipping services, covering export markets across Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.
As a strategic logistics hub in eastern China, Xuzhou is increasingly becoming an important gateway for inland manufacturers seeking faster access to international markets. Industry analysts believe MSC’s expansion reflects the growing demand for integrated multimodal transportation and supply chain optimization within China’s inland industrial regions.
The company is also expected to strengthen logistics connectivity along the New Eurasian Land Bridge and the Yellow River Economic Belt, improving cargo consolidation efficiency and reducing transportation bottlenecks between inland production centers and major international ports.
Market observers note that the launch of the Xuzhou branch highlights MSC’s long-term commitment to China’s inland export economy and its strategy to enhance “last-mile” connectivity for manufacturers and exporters. The move is expected to further improve regional supply chain resilience and support sustainable growth in cross-border trade logistics.
