latest company news about Malaysia to Implement Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) Requirement for Furniture Imports from August 3

Malaysia’s Royal Malaysian Customs Department (KRA) has announced that the Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) system will become mandatory for all imported upholstered furniture starting August 3, 2026. The new requirement aims to strengthen customs management efficiency and improve cargo monitoring before goods arrive at Malaysian ports.

Under the new regulation, exporters must complete the ACD registration process through the KRA platform before cargo loading. Companies are required to submit relevant documents, including commercial invoices, shipping invoices, and export declaration documents, in order to obtain a 15-digit ACD reference number.

After successful application, the ACD reference number must be linked with the final shipment order and clearly displayed on relevant shipping documents. The reference number, such as the format “ACDKE2026004324,” will become an important requirement for customs clearance procedures in Malaysia.

Industry professionals advised exporters and logistics companies to prepare for the new compliance requirements in advance. Failure to complete the ACD application or provide the required information may result in customs delays, penalties, or additional operational costs at Malaysian ports.
