Major Shipping Lines Extend Container Free Time Policies Ahead of China’s National Day Holiday

With China’s National Day holiday approaching, several major global shipping carriers, including COSCO Shipping, Evergreen, CMA CGM, ONE, Hapag-Lloyd, and Maersk, have introduced extended container free-time policies to support exporters in arranging shipments more efficiently. These measures aim to reduce additional container usage costs and improve supply chain flexibility during the holiday period.

According to the latest announcements, different carriers have implemented specific arrangements for export shipments. COSCO Shipping has extended free container periods for selected October sailings, while Evergreen, CMA CGM, ONE, Hapag-Lloyd, and Maersk have also provided various forms of container release and free-time support based on departure schedules and equipment types.

The updated policies are expected to help exporters better manage cargo preparation, container pickup, and warehouse coordination before and after the holiday.
