DHL, FedEx and UPS Announce Adjustments to Fuel Surcharge Mechanisms for International Shipments

Major international express carriers including DHL, FedEx, and UPS have recently announced updates to their fuel surcharge policies, which will affect global air express shipping costs. With fluctuations in aviation fuel prices and increasing operational expenses, the carriers are adjusting their surcharge calculation methods to better reflect market changes and maintain service stability.

According to the latest announcement, DHL will apply a temporary fuel surcharge adjustment for air export shipments from Hong Kong between September 7 and September 13, 2026. The surcharge will increase to HKD 10.30 per kilogram, compared with the previous rate of HKD 2.20 per kilogram. FedEx and UPS have also updated their fuel surcharge adjustment mechanisms, with future rates linked more closely to fuel price movements.
