Latest company news about CMA CGM Announces Multiple Peak Season Surcharges Covering Nordic and East Africa Trade Lanes

On May 21, CMA CGM issued three Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) adjustment notices affecting several major international shipping routes, reflecting continued pressure on global freight demand and operational capacity during the traditional peak shipping season.

According to the announcements, the surcharge adjustments will apply to routes connecting Asia with Northern Europe, as well as services from Central and North China to Tanzania and from the Far East to the Comoros Islands.

For the Asia–Northern Europe trade lane, CMA CGM will implement a PSS of USD 500 per TEU effective June 1, 2026. The surcharge will apply to cargo departing from Japan, Southeast Asia, and Bangladesh, with destinations including all Northern European ports across the United Kingdom, Portugal, Finland, Estonia, and other regional markets.

In addition, shipments from Central and North China to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will be subject to a USD 350 per TEU surcharge starting May 28, 2026.

For the Far East to Moroni, Comoros service, CMA CGM will introduce a PSS of USD 300 per TEU effective June 1, 2026.

Industry analysts believe the latest adjustments reflect ongoing volatility in global supply chains, rising operational costs, and tightening vessel capacity across key international trade corridors. Shippers are advised to closely monitor carrier notices and prepare logistics plans in advance to mitigate potential cost impacts during the peak season.
